Introduction

WARNING!!!

WP CODA ORANGE is based on the fantastic theme by Greg Johnson - WP CODA. WP CODA itself was created to “mimic” the functionality of the very popular Coda website - created by .Panic to market their web development tools and services. I say job well done. As Greg states, “Every aspect of the Coda website was duplicated and this theme works in every major browser.”

I found the theme on the ever present Weblog Tools Collection theme release posts. I have added my own twists and simplified the graphic layout so others could take the files I created and make their own CODA theme flavor.

This is an unrelated image to show the gallery zooming ability of the theme

Requirements

Although everything needed to run WP CODA is included in WP CODA, here is a list of what is required and what is optional:

  • WordPress 2.5+ (may work with earlier versions)
  • wp-coda plugin for wordpress (included) Plugin not needed for WP CODA Orange
  • jQuery (included)
  • jQuery.localScroll (included)
  • jQuery.scrollTo (included)
  • jQuery.serialScroll (included)
  • Coda Slider (included)
  • Coda Bubble (included)
  • FancyBox (recommended)(included)
  • jQuery.preloadCssImages (recommended)(included)

Instructions

It is recommended using this theme on a fresh wordpress installation, although it is not necessary.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download and extract “> wp-coda-orange.zip.
  2. Upload the theme to the wp-content\themes folder on your wordpress installation.
  3. Activate the theme from your wordpress admin panel.
  4. Unlike WP CODA there is no plugin needed for the theme to function. All features of the WP CODA Plugin are included in the contents of the functions.php file located in the themes install folder. Don’t worry, ‘Fancy Box’ is fully supported in WP CODA Orange theme.

Usage Notes

  • WP CODA Orange only displays Pages, not Posts. You can change this by opening up wp-coda/home.php and changing the post_type from page to post on line 2
  • WP CODA Orange displays content tabs by ‘Page Order’. This behavior can be changed by changing the order parameter in the same place mentioned above.
  • WP CODA Orange’s behavior is handled with the query_posts() function. For more information, go to the wordpress codex page dedicated to query_posts()
  • To get the fancy image zooming effect, put your image(s) in a paragraph with a class name of gallery. If you want your image to have a title, put it as the title attribute of the link to the image.

Here are links to all the resources used in making WP CODA Orange. It is the same list from the WP CODA theme but I have added a link to the Photoshop .PSD files.
